Script a Different Story & Create a Different Life.
Whether it be in the form of journaling, diary keeping, poetry writing or scripting, there is a potency that writing induces that can change your reality.

A Gift from Dad
Whether it be in the form of journaling, diary keeping, poetry writing or scripting, there is a potency induced by writing that can change your reality. This is what I want to share with you.
Writing has always been a natural inclination for me – a gift from dad. Mom used to ask me to write poems and create cards for people all the time. However, she was my favorite person to make cards for because I almost could see her literally melt to pieces. While I never gave writing much thought, it’s only in recent years that I’ve learned some other powers that writing has.
“She was my favorite person to make cards for because I almost could see her literally melt to pieces. “
Have you ever shared your deepest secrets to a faithful ‘Dear Dairy’? Did you picture the book as male or female or maybe didn’t give much thought to it? You just wrote about your daily adventures, wishes, woes and foes and kept it pushing. Til one day you forgot to write to Dear Diary, leaving so many pages untouched, unloved and unattended…pages and pages of empty space awaiting your daily adventures. Mr or Miss Diary alone and unfulfilled… a tragic story of unrequited love.
It’s definitely happened with me but over the years, it seems I always come back to having some of dairy keeping or journaling. These days, it has mostly evolved to “scripting”.
I Was in Love At Least 10 Times
As a teenager, I had a few diaries. Looking back at some of my entries has been nothing short of hilarious. I was in love at least 10 times between the ages of 12 and 15. Sometimes the pages were filled with glorious details dancing across ruled lines like contenders at a Soul Train convention. Other times, they were like harsh ink blots of madness holding tightly to things I wished I could have done differently or not at all – a scripted rerun of daily dramas.
I also wrote a lot of poetry. Books and books of poetry. Literally. Unending streams of words like these Live feeds on Instagram since the pandemic made its debut on planet earth. The entries and poems documented the ups and downs of my life – sometimes they were written for and given to very special people in my circle. But in most cases, they’re just laying around in storage like treasures in a chest.
“Unending streams of words like these Live feeds on Instagram since the pandemic made its debut on planet earth.”
Everything is Energy
In essence, all this writing and sharing was a form of journaling.
Journaling is a known coping mechanism to help with depression, anxiety and many other mental health afflictions. Diary keeping, poetry, story writing and journaling are all ways to touch into your imaginative or ‘feeling’ side, the right brain. Whatever form of “journaling” you’re doing, they are likely built on the composition of words that either tell a story of how things are, how they were or how you wish them to be.
Keeping that in mind, remember that EVERYTHING IS ENERGY. Every single thing. Even emotion is energy. It is actually Energy IN Motion. So, as we hold a pen, we add our energy to it. When we write with it, we add our energy to the paper. Now, we’re thinking, writing and possibly verbally mouthing these words. We are, in essence, CREATING… this is why you want to be mindful of your words or YOUR CREATIONS.
I always remember conversations with my dear friend Shannon Solis, who is more like a sister-in-law to me. Whenever I’d say something that was off-putting or had the proclivity to spiral through a negative path, she’d say “Don’t even put that out there.”
Watch your words with all your love and create the life you want. And I say this with a slight choke in my throat. Anyone who knows me well knows that sometimes I struggle with avalanches of negative thinking. BUT, it’s probably because of my experience with that, that makes me so passionate about his stuff. It’s because I know that side of it and I know that if I could just tip the scales in the positive direction, everything shifts with it. It’s truly learning how to master your direction and YES, I am still learning.
Herein lies the power of writing that you might be underestimating. It goes way beyond the concept of journaling or diary keeping. There’s a way to use your words to face life, release the past and to create a new path.
Here are the three powerful ways to use writing to raise your frequency and change your life.
1. Telling the Story of How Things Were
This could come in the form of writing letters to people. You can also use poetry. Kinda like stories of ‘once upon a time’. It grants the chance to release things. Writing letters to people in your past or present helps to release love or fear. It’s a great way to unleash negative thoughts and feelings without causing harm or to share your deepest heart space vibrations without wearing your heart on your sleeves for everyone to see. Imagine a confession box so to speak.
Remember, everything is energy and when you keep things stuck, they create blockages. If something happened in your past and it doesn’t affect you then there is no place for it to get clogged in your system.
However, if you find you’re holding on to something, it can create a blockage in your energy body. One way or another, you’ll want to release it. You can choose to rip up the pages or burn them after. The likelihood is that if you keep them, you’ll come upon them one day, acknowledge how insignificant they became and discard them one way or another.
“It gives you a chance to get in touch with you, where you are and how things affect you positively or negatively.”
2. Telling the Story of How Things Are
Similar to venting, telling the story of how things are gives you a chance to release the day’s events. It’s a good way to check in with yourself and where you are with your life situations. Equate it to sort of taking stock and it brings you into a state of awareness. Many times I’d start these entries with Dear God or Dear Jesus…
If I was going through a rough patch, it became a way to rant and rave – penning angry feelings about life, directed to Him… the Alpha and the Omega. Angry letters to God! How dare I? But I did. I’ve found some lengthy letters to God seeking help, begging for mercy and asking the big WHY about so many people, places, things and events.
You may find that even without planning it, you start to make changes just based on the practice of writing. It gives you a chance to get in touch with you, where you are and how things affect you positively or negatively. Once you write them down, you may find you’re either more grateful if it was a lot of positive things or you may feel a little upset afterwards if it was negative. BUT, even if it was negative, writing it down releases it so that, at the very least, it’s not lingering on your energy body anymore.
There are some situations you may have to write about a couple times before it lifts off of you completely. One day you’ll look back and see how irrelevant things became.
And now we’re on to #3!
This is Where The Magic Begins
Before I really get into this one, the one I’m most passionate about, lemme explain a little. About three years ago, my friend Randy Mercado and I were talking about the power of the mind, energy and all things related.
“Have you ever really looked the word ‘spelling’, Jeannie?”, he asked. If he saw my face on the other line, he might not have been so apt to continue the conversation. “Of course I have. Hellooooo! I’m a writer.”, said my ego – quietly of course. “What do you mean?”, I finally responded in my calm, serene, inquisitive, balanced Libra mode.
Here’s my interpretation of what he explained.
Spelling literally unites a series of letters to form words. These words, brought together, create sentences. These sentences, in thought, written or read aloud create spells. The power of your words are mightier than you may realize. Each time you put a series of letters together to “spell”, you are casting “spells”. You are creating. This is why it’s so important to watch your words and/or thoughts.
Prior to this conversation, I became more in tuned with the power of my words and thoughts through a book called “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Vincent Peale. I was mostly drawn to this book because of mom. She was an advocate for positive thinking and had a vivacious ‘can do it’ attitude about almost everything. But this “spell casting” phenomenon was a whole new perspective.
So how does it work?
“I was mostly drawn to this book because of mom. She was an advocate for positive thinking and had a vivacious ‘can do it’ attitude about almost everything. “
3. Telling the Story of How You Wish Things to Be
Write a story about how you wish things to be. For example, if you wanted to move to another city, your writing would be based on that. So instead of what happened in the past or what happened this day, you’ll write as if your future is your present. You can address it to Dear Diary, Dear God, Dear Self or just begin.
It would look something like this.

We are happily living in [insert city]. Our home is spacious and has so much light coming through it from all the windows. The neighborhood is calm and quiet and everything is within 10 mins from home. I go for long walks every evening and enjoy watching all the people walking their dogs and exercising. We are all on a similar vibration of goodness and prosperity and I feel so good living in this area. Our home has all the amenities I need and the parking is fabulous. I look forward to coming home every day. It’s my safe haven and I’m so excited that we are living here now.

Write what’s true for you. Forget ‘reality’ for a moment and just pretend. Close your eyes and tune in to your creative side. Imagine the life you want and how you’ll feel if you had it right now in this moment. This ‘feeling state” is critical to the manifestation of your new story.
“Close your eyes and tune in to your creative side. Imagine the life you want and how you’ll feel if you had it right now in this moment. “
This is a Feeling Universe
Your subconscious doesn’t know the difference between what is and what isn’t. It’s simply awaiting directives from you and when it hears or perceives this information, your subconscious thinks its real. Consequently, it sets out to make this happen. The use of your words is a powerful tool that is often misused. Be mindful of the things you’re saying, thereby giving life to, and finally creating.
Use your words to script and tell a new story. In this FEELING universe, when we tie emotion (energy in motion) to our words, they are given that Usain Bolt effect – lightning speed.
Try it for simple things… just as a test. And see where it takes you. You can use this to adjust your body weight, your car, your mindset – just about anything. Write a new story, tell it how you’d wish it to be and watch how life aligns all things for you.
“This is a FEELING universe and when we tie emotion (energy in motion) to our words, they are given that Usain Bolt effect – powerful.”
Your Frequency will Shift
Of course, you can do all three in a day’s writing. However, even if you start with venting which then releases… over time you’ll find that your focus shifts. You’ll go from venting and releasing to creating.
As you begin to tap into yourself, understand who you are, you’ll find that more and more you will focus on the things you’re grateful for and the life you wish to create.
Soon enough, your frequency will shift, your vibration will be lighter and your energy body will raise to a higher dimension. You’ll look back one day on an old entry and see that you created what you wrote. If you do and it was because you tried this, please tell me about it. I’d love to hear it.
You can do your scripting on your computer, phone or tablet but there’s something about writing with ink that makes it feel more energetically infused with personal power. As with all things, I encourage you to follow your truth and what’s right for you.
